How do I Get Grant Money From the USA?

Instructions

  1. 1

Visit government sites like Grants or the Small Business Administration website. Grants has a seemingly endless list of grants available for a wide range of applicants. Sba is the website for the Small Business Administration and it has listings specifically for people looking to start an Initial Public Offering (IPO) or just a small local business in their community. Search carefully through these sites because a large number of the grants available apply specifically to circumstances most people are in but assume there would be no available funding for assistance.

  2. 2

Search a government grant center site, like FederalGrantsWire or the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, to find federal medical grants to supplement health insurance costs, the cost of medication or hospital bills. In many cases, depending on your particular health condition, you can have a significant portion, or even all, of the cost of your medical bills covered.

  3. 3

Look into finding grants to build or purchase energy efficient items, such as solar panels or hybrid cars. Government grants and tax breaks are available for people looking to contribute to energy awareness and the battle for energy efficiency in their community, even if it’s just through the purchasing of a hybrid car.

Apply for the Writers Emergency Assistance fund if you are a writer in desperate need of financial support due to an emergency. The grant provides funding for writers distributed and administered through the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) Charitable Trust. The funding is exempt from taxation, but to qualify you must be a freelance writer whose income has been severely diminished due to an emergency that has affected your ability to write. You also have to present upon request a long record of non-fiction works similar to those published by previous recipients of the grant. For application instructions and more information, visit the ASJA site.

  5. 5

Apply for a free gas grant by visiting the website Freegasusa. To be eligible, you must be a legal United States resident, at least 18 years of age. You must also have a referral letter from a human service agency, or church, to verify proof of income, since the grant is based on need. To apply, complete the questionnaire on the website. Once you have been found eligible to apply, you will be requested to fill out the grant application. Grants range from $50 to $1,200 a month. Grant applications are accepted between January and December, with approved funds distributed during the following year.
